A case by @naseembham showing that even when things go wrong, all is not lost: “patient presented with a failed 3 unit bridge, and unfortunately, both retainers had a hopeless prognosis. We extracted the 34 and 36, and placed 2 @neodentza implants in the respective sites. We loaded with a 3 unit implant supported bridge after 4 months. This was actually the first time I got to use a digital workflow for the restorative phase, which was a little bit of an adjustment for me @3shape_mea @henryscheinsa. A complicated case!
Patient had a time frame of 2 weeks, and did not want orthodontic treatment to derotate the 12 and shift her midline.

We agreed on a compromised result and did gingivectomies (cut the gum to the correct height) followed by 13-23 emax veneers and gave her a bite plate.

A beautiful, natural looking result thanks to @ehlersdental

*Pictures taken 1 week after cementation, and we still expect gingival healing.

An align-bond-bleach case by @naseembham: “I really enjoyed putting this case together. The patient presented with some ortho relapse and discoloured resin veneers. We did the aligners with @activealignerssa, and we used their amazing new @activesmiledesign for the smile design and injection moulding templates. Root canal treatments are necessary when deep decay extends into the pulp tissue of the tooth, which often presents as toothache. It involves disinfection of the root canal space, and sealing the tooth to prevent re-infection.

We ❤️ saving teeth!!

This challenging case was an interesting way for @naseembham to round off 2022.
The referred case, with heavily curved and blocked mesial canals, was treated using WaveOne Gold files and Cold Lateral Condensation with GP and MTA sealer.

Elize Smuts
Elize Smuts, trusted Oral Hygienist in the Vaal Triangle, has been working in the private sector for the past 16 years.

Elize matriculated from Hoërskool Kempton Park in 2001.

Thereafter, she completed a National Certificate in Dental Assisting from the Tswhane University of Technology in 2002.

Elize also completed a 2-Year Diploma in Oral Hygiene from the University of Pretoria in 2004.

Elize kicked off her career in Kempton Park and joined this practice in 2011 after relocating from Johannesburg to Sasolburg. She re-joined the practice (now called Sasolburg Dental Studio) at the end of 2019.

Elize strives to provide high quality dental care to her patients, especially while performing procedures like; scaling and polishing of teeth, rootplaning, fissure sealants, dental screenings, and assisting the Dentist with orthodontic patients.

Elize also offers different teeth whitening treatments for patients who want a whiter, brighter smile.

Educating patients about good oral habits is very important to Elize, as she believes that it will help patients to improve and maintain good oral health.

Ilska, our new dentist all the way from Pretoria, graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery, and did her community service in the heart of Zululand and Sasolburg came up as the next adventure!

She recently did a course in Implantology and Crown lengthening with the Implant & Aesthetic Academy. She has a particular interest in Root Canal Treatments (Endodontics) & Oral Surgery and loves serving our children in the practice as well as our older folks.

She believes dentistry is busy taking a big turn in the way we approach our patients', with compassion and understanding and that there is a big space in dentistry for a feminine touch and that coming to the dentist can be fun!

She aims to make her patients feel comfortable, heard and understood and believes that the days of “being afraid of the dentist” are coming to an end!

Dr. Atiyah Mohamed graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 2017. She has a passion for dentistry and aesthetics and strives to provide quality care for patients', as well as educate patients, as she believes prevention is better than cure.

She has completed post-graduate training in clear aligner therapies, endodontics, implantology, and is currently studying towards a diploma in Advanced Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry with the Implant and Aesthetic Academy.

She has also furthered her training in Aesthetic Medicine with Medskills Training Academy. She aims to provide safe and suitable treatments for her patients.

She is also a mother to a beautiful boy and loves being a mother and a dentist.

After re-opening one of the longest running practices in Sasolburg, Dr. Bham established Sasolburg Dental Studio in 2019, with the aim of providing high quality, comprehensive dentistry to his patients'.

He is a graduate of Hoerskool Zeerust, and graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 2015.
He subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Interceptive Orthodontics with the University of the Western Cape in 2019.
He has completed post-graduate training in clear aligner therapies, laser dentistry, endodontics, implantology, and is currently studying towards a diploma in Advanced Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry with the Implant and Aesthetic Academy.
